Inclement Weather Procedures Quick Links Port Angeles School District M y Clallam County Weather.com SPARK Squad Swim Lessons Upcoming Events/Facebook Contact Us Shore Metropolitan Park District will make the determination to close facilities and cancel programs based upon weather and travel conditions to ensure participant and staff safety at all times. If the facility hours change for whatever reason it will be posted on Website cover page, FB and digital signage in the lobby of the Shore Aquatic Center which is visible from the outside entryway windows. The following situations will lead to facility closures, delays and/or schedule changes: I F PORT ANGELES SCHOOL DISTRICT CLOSED ALL DAY, EARLY RELEASE: SPARK Squad programs will be cancelled when there is no school or early release. IN THE EVENT A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED: The Director and/or Manager reserve the right to cancel programs and close facilities in advance if a Winter Storm Warning is issued. Click on our Port Angeles School District link for updated weather news and conditions. OTHER REASONS FOR POOL CLOSURE: Power Outages- Shore Aquatic Center will close immediately and will reopen depending on equipment and facility safety. State of Emergency/Natural disasters- SAC closed immediately until facility safety check and will be determined by Director and Manager if it is safe to open. Staffing shortages due to weather, road closures, illness and staff availability. COMMUNICATION: Shore Metropolitan Park District will communicate to patrons and staff all facility closures and program cancellations and updates due to inclement weather at the earliest convenience. Note: Closures and delays are always dependent first and foremost on staff safely making it to work. Please be patient and understanding.

The CAC is made up of seven community leaders throughout the District who believe in the health, safety, recreation and competition benefits of year-round public aquatic facilities and programming for children and adults. The WSMPD Board sincerely appreciates the members of the CAC who have given their time and interest to help the Shore Aquatic Center become a vital part of the community. The Clerk of the Board is the designated Records Officer for the District. It is the role of this office to assure the District is in compliance with the Public Records Act. The District provides access to public records under the provisions of the Washington State Public Records Act (RCW 42.56). Many public records are currently available on the District’s website at no cost. If copies of the requested records is requested a charge of $0.15 per page shall be charged. An electronic copy can be given for $1.00 for the cost of a CD/ROM disk. Some public records are exempt from disclosure, in whole or in part. If the District believes that a record is exempt from disclosure and should be withheld, the public records officer will state the specific exemption and provide a brief explanation of why the record or a portion of the record is being withheld. FREQUENTLY ASKEd QUESTIONS General Facility Questions How long are the new pools in terms of a workout? If you are working out in the Lazy River, it would take 45 laps to walk a mile. In the Wellness Pool, 88 lengths of the pool would be a mile (44 laps down & back). In the Lap Lanes it is 25 yds. (35 down and back) to equal one mile. What play features are in your Activity Pool? We have multiple new play features including our Lazy River, vortex, spray features such as a large whale tail, mushroom toy, underwater features, and more. Our Activity Pool also features zero-depth entry and underwater benches. Are mermaid tail skins allowed in the facility? Unfortunately, they are not. STAR GUARD guidelines state they're not permitted in an aquatics facility. Because we must follow these guidelines to remain compliant; we currently do not allow them. The mono fin that is inside IS allowed.
